Trees Are Alive!Whether you’re a homeowner, plant professional, municipality, arboretum, park or farmer, we assume you try to use appropriate products and the best practices that you can. However, you know that despite your best efforts, plants and trees can still suffer from stress or go into decline.
Do you want to save a sick plant or declining tree when others say to cut it down?
Green Centrics® holistic and alternative treatments are based–not on products–but on services that care for plants from the “inside-out” and coming from the plant’s point of view. The Green Centrics “alternative” approach is this: heal the tree or plant on the inside––don’t fix the problem. The alternatives are not products but are treatments that work directly with the plant’s Life Force or growth energy to generate the repair of its internal functionality and biology.
The Green Centrics™ system is used for healing stressed or declining trees and other plants from the inside-out. The first premise upon which the Green Centrics work is based is this: Trees and Plants are Alive. Please read more about the philosophy here.
|
What stresses trees? A strong and healthy person is less likely to come down with a cold. Under stress, we humans are susceptible to disease. It’s the same with trees and plants.
Under any of these 12 stress conditions, a tree or plant’s internal functionality is compromised, making it susceptible to attach by insects or disease. Insects or disease don’t usually come first; they seek out stressed trees.
Development on Green Centrics began in 2002. Dr. Jim Conroy was the first to teach that three or more stresses lead to decline. But, he adds, even trees in decline can be saved.
|
Compromise of Internal FunctionalityIn conventional thinking, it often goes unrecognized that stress compromises a tree’s internal functionality. For example, circulation of fluids inside of the plant’s xylem and phloem is often compromised. Like dominos falling, this compromise can negatively impact other functionality like photosynthesis or transpiration in the leaves, uptake and root pressure in the roots, etc.
In a human being, when circulation is compromised–say a blocked artery to the heart–it is possible to have surgery to put in a stint or transplant a leg vein as in heart-bypass. This is not possible for trees and plants. So, trees often go into decline–using up their inner resources and dying.
|
Reversing Decline and Restoring Inner FunctionalityExamples of Inner Functionality include:
- Circulation of fluids
- Photosynthesis
- Uptake of water and nutrients
- Movement of water and nutrients in the xylem and phloem to the growing point
- Cell division
It is possible to reverse decline and restore inner functionality to a tree or plant with new thinking and systems based on the new sciences of the last 100 years. If you do not believe that a tree or plant is–at some level–alive, then you will have trouble thinking outside-the-box to understand the Plant Health Alternative approaches. It’s a holistic approach that asks you to have an open mind and set aside some of your assumptions about how trees and plants–and even the world–works.
Briefly put, a Green Centrics™ practitioner
- approaches the tree as a whole, living system…not as an assemblage of unrelated “machine” parts
- finds out exactly what functions are not operating correctly inside of the tree by using a proprietary scientific checklist combined with his or her subtle sensory awareness and right-brain intuition skills
- repairs those functions using the principles and hands-on techniques borrowed from effective modern, alternative human health care methods.
- the tree’s growth energy pattern shifts from a decline/shrinking pattern into a growth/expanding pattern and it heals itself.
Its health is thus restored from the “inside-out.” This is outside-the-box thinking. But, if you gain some understanding of how new sciences apply, the leap is not too far.

Science of Living SystemsAbout 100 years ago, a new breed of scientists broke from the Newtonian physics of the previous 400 years. Their experimental results with energy, particles and light did not fit into the Newtonian principles created during Renaissance times. During the 1900’s, Quantum Physicists explored the nature of matter and of light determining that everything is energy and all matter is fundamentally connected. Fritjof Capra, in his book The Tao of Physics, was one of these quantum physicists and he drew parallels between the new physics and ancient spiritual principles.
In Fritjof Capra’s 1975 classic he made three important points:
- Everything is energy.
- All matter is shown to be physically connected at the most fundamental levels, in much the same way that mystics throughout the ages have taught.
- Linear thought developed by Descartes and Newton during the Renaissance works for large scale and practical science but it does not work at the level of the quantum. At the level of photons, a new kind of thinking–holistic and systems–is what works.
In the last 20 years, scientists world-wide have studied different aspect of what it means to be a living system. In their search for a fundamental definition, they have explored a full range of systems including biological organisms as well as computer models. Dr. Capra assembled and summarized all of their work in his book The Web of Life. There are three fundamental criteria for a living system.
- “Network Pattern.” Trees/plants operate with a complex pattern of organization like a large orchestra. They have countless interacting and interdependent parts and functions which work in feedback loops.
- “Dissipative Structure.” Living systems undergo dynamic change and yet maintain a stable structure. As an Oak tree begins as an acorn and grows into a massive tree, so it has a stable structure while dynamic changes occur constantly.
- “Cognition as the Process of Life.” All living things show intelligence or cognition. Not only do sunflowers follow the sun’s progress East to West during the day, but in the morning, they are waiting for the sun in the East again. This is not human intelligence–the result of language and culture. However, it is “cognition” in the same sense that a single celled organism in a Petri dish will go toward the food and away from the poison.
Trees and all plants qualify in all three criteria. Even though very different in structure and physiology, trees and other plants share a similar fundamental cellular biology with humans. All cells have walls, internal structures and operate based on energy exchanges and patterns. Aggregates of cells–systems–must interact in coordination with other systems for the benefit of the whole. This is the same in all living organisms.
In fact, according to Dr. Lipton in his book The Biology of Belief, every cell–whether animal or plant–is itself intelligent. The membrane of cells must “decide” what to allow in and what to keep out.

Human Energy FieldsIn the 1990’s, sensitive new equipment and new human experiments revealed that that heart has as much neural tissue as the brain-in-the-head. More than that, the heart has a measurable bio-electro-magnetic field which it generates. This discovery lead scientists to declare that the heart is a brain, too. As such, it is like radio technology: both a transmitter of information and a receiver. Coherence between the heart-brain and the head-brain leads to enormous health benefits for people.
The diagram from page 34 of the bestseller The HeartMath Solution, by Childre and Martin, is labeled this way: “The Heart’s Electromagnetic Field: The electromagnetic field generated by the heart envelops the entire body and extends out in all directions into the space around us. The heart’s electromagnetic field–by far the most powerful field produced by the body–can be measured many feet away from us by sensitive devices.” ©1997 Institute of HeartMath Research Center.
So, if you are within about 5 feet of another person, your heart field and theirs are overlapping. That often shows why we feel good around some people and not so good around others.

Plant Energy FieldsWhen it first came out in the ‘60’s, The Secret Life of Plants was a best-seller. It was full of history and anecdotal information about plants as living organisms and about the people who worked with them. One of the most notable was lie detector expert Cleve Baxter…well known for hooking up his lie detection equipment to a houseplant in his office. He threatened the plant with fire. The results were amazing: the plant’s energy fields were detectable! He has continued his work, extending it to other living organisms as well.
Every cell in a tree or plant produces bio-electro-magnetic energy (Growth Energy) because of countless interacting and inter-dependent inner processes which operate in complex feedback loops. Feedback loops are indications of a living system in operation. In Stephen Buhner’s book, The Secret Teaching of Plants, you will find a wealth of information and accounts about the heart as an organ of perception and plants as generators of bio-electro-magnetic fields. His bibliography is full of other references on this and other topics, too.
In her book, The Intention Experiment, Lynne
McTaggart reports on countless studies. Two of the studies relevant to plants are
- Fritz-Albert Popp has proven that light emanates from organisms. Photons are generated by the DNA of all organisms.
- Konstantin Korotkov’s bio-energy fields research shows that there
is a 2-way flow of information between living beings. It is thought
that this research confirms the “lie detector” work of Cleve
Backster’s.

Overlapping Energy FieldsHuman beings generate measurable bio-electro-magnetic fields––also known as bio-energy fields––primarily from their hearts.
Trees and plants, as whole organisms, have "smart" cells and countless inner functions operating in complex feedback loops. Like human beings, trees and plants also generate bio-energy fields. The illustration on the left shows
You probably can't see the waves of energy which come to your cell phone...but it rings and you talk with the other person. No wires needed.
You probably can't see the waves of energy interacting between you and another person or you and a tree or plants, but they exist and carry information similar to the waves from the cell phone tower. See the illustration to the left of what human and tree bio-energy patterns overlapping might look like, if you could see them.
Overlapping coherent energy patterns--or "interference patterns"–are proven to contain information.

The New Science of IntentionalityIn her book, The Intention Experiment, Lynne
McTaggart reports on countless studies performed in last 100 years and
mostly in the last 20 years involving the use of human intention and
focused attention to impact matter including other human beings’
health.
Ms. McTaggart is conducting Intention Experiments in which anyone can participate at http://intentionexperiment.com/default.htm
Recent work photographing water as it freezes into snowflakes by Japanese scientist, Dr. Masaru Emoto reveals amazingly beautiful crystals. As might be expected, water taken from pure sources produces well shaped, beautiful crystals while water from polluted sources produces misshapen, “ugly” forms upon freezing. These amazing pictures can be seen in his books: The Hidden Messages in Water, Secret Life of Water, Water Crystal Healing, and others.
However, what was not expected in Dr. Emoto’s work was the effect that attention, prayer, the written word, music, meditation and focused intention had on water. All of those activities had a dramatic effect in changing the appearance from the original crystal photo to the resulting crystal photo. For instance, “thank you” written on a container changed the resulting appearance.
Go to www.hado.net to see more about Dr. Emoto’s work. People are plants are mostly water and few elements and chemicals. If free-floating water can be influenced by intention or music or words, what effect might happen to the water in our bodies or in trees and plants?

Thinking Outside the BoxOnce the understandings about quantum physics, the human heart-brain and its field, plant bio-electro-magnetic fields and intentionality are in place, it is possible to make the leap to thinking outside-the-modern-box concerning tree and plant health care.
Because trees and other plants are alive–as are humans–that means the Green Centrics practitioner can work with the Life Force or Growth Energy of a tree in order to repair it from the inside-out. It is not a long leap if you accept that both trees and people are alive.
However, having the experience is more powerful.

A Personal ExperienceIn various presentations and worshops, teacher and "Chief Listener" Ms. Basia Alexander, leads participants through a process by which they can have a personal experience of connection and deeper appreciation for trees, plants and all of nature. Coming from the tree’s point of view is a skill anyone can develop…and an extraordinary experience. Once a person has experience a sense of connection with plants and trees for themselves, it becomes easy to understand what a Green Centrics practitioner does to heal trees from the inside-out.
During such presentations, people connect with the Life Force or Growth Energy (bio-energy field) of plants that Basia and Dr. Jim Conroy, The Tree Whisperer™, bring into the session. Basia asks participants to tune up their sensory and emotional sensitivities in order to connect with the Growth Energy. Tuning up sensitivities is done by borrowing proven techniques from alternative health care for people.
To mention just a few of the systems of Alternative Health Care for people-
Changes in the human body are generated in those system by
- Breathing
- Imagining or visualizing
- Touching
- Tapping
- Focused Attention
- Intentional Concentration
- Movement
- Application of Energy Flows
- And more….
During the guided visualization exercise in a Tree Whispering presentation or workshop, people are guided on a visualization or “trip” through a real live plant’s leaves, stem and roots. They report experiencing feeling the flow of fluids, seeing colors or light, hearing messages, smelling aromas. People also share that they gain insights and wisdom from the plants.
For instance, a man without previous training in biology reported having the insight that plants “breathe” through cells (stomata) on the underside of their leaves. Others share information that they feel that got from the plant about its health and well-being or stress level. Most want to take their plant home with them after class. Of course, they can!

The Tree’s or Plant’s ProblemThe inner workings of a tree are a web of interacting and inter-dependent parts and functions which need to be–like an orchestra– in tune” and “in sync” for the tree to be healthy. When a tree is stressed, it’s like an orchestra playing off beat and out of tune.
For example, let’s say that extreme cold might compromise a tree’s circulation–that’s the movement of fluids up and down in the xylem and phloem. In this scenario, the tree’s roots can’t up-take water and nutrients properly so water and nutrients don’t get up to leaves. Then, the tree can’t make enough foods in the leaves–using photosynthesis. Since the circulation is not operating correctly, that lesser amount of food is not being distributed properly throughout the tree. Without food, new growth can’t occur at the growing tips. Without robust new growth, the downward cycle repeats itself.
All this adds up to a weakened tree. And, if various stresses occur repeatedly, it is a tree likely to go into decline.
See the "X"s in the illustration to the left. Each "X" represents a function that is compromised.
|
Your ProblemConventional tree care uses “outside-in” products and techniques to treat trees. Whereas products such as fertilizers and sprays are appropriate for healthy or nearly-healthy trees, they can add stress to sick or stressed trees. Since the tree’s internal functionality is already compromised, adding products may even send trees into decline.
In the tree-stress scenario above, conventional tree care practitioners don’t have the sensitive methods to identify exactly which of the “orchestra-like” interactions inside of a sick tree are compromised. Even if they could identify internal dysfunctions, their products and tools don’t correct the inner workings or functionality of the tree.
|
Alternative Health CareMany alternative health care systems for people were mentioned above. Those approaches impact the life energy of the human body by adjusting structural alignment, removing blockages, re-connecting functionality, redirecting the patterns of energy flow in all the various human systems. A very large percentage of people who have had cancer have included some form of alternative approach to assist their recovery. Many hospitals are seeing the wisdom of a complementary approach and offering classes in yoga and meditative practices on-site.
Modeled after human alternative health care, the Green Centrics system is a holistic approach to tree and plant health that works toward the same ends as human alternative health care:
- Rebuild inner functionality by removing blockages.
- Re-connect internal functionality
- Adjust structural alignment of the whole living system
- Re-direct patterns of energy flow within the whole being
- Restore dynamic balance among the thousands of interacting parts and inter-dependent functions inside of the organism.
However, Green Centrics methodology does not try to copy human health approaches because humans and plants are fundamentally different.
So, why not alternative health care for trees and plants?
|
Green Centrics Process (see Green Centrics page for more detail.)What does the practitioner do and how?
First, the practitioner enters a bio-electro-magnetic energy overlap with the tree or plant, as discussed above. His or her heart field and Life Force interact with the Growth Energy of the tree or plant.
Second, like an athlete “in the zone,” the Green Centrics practitioner uses right brain functions or intuition, heart connection and subtle senses or “gut feelings” in combination with the Green Centrics system. He or she finds out exactly what functions are not operating correctly inside of the tree, by asking questions using the system’s proprietary scientific checklist.
Dr. Jim Conroy developed this checklist. It takes to account basic botany, physiology, local environmental factors, genetic components, chemistry, cyclical elements and energy dynamics. But, just as flour, eggs and water sitting on the counter do not make a loaf of bread, the checklist components, by themselves, do not account for the life and health of the whole tree.
For the practitioner, determining the exact dysfunctions inside of the tree means being able to:
- have insight into the holistic interplay of systems,
- understand the combined stress reactions,
- have comprehension about dynamic flow of fluids,
- have perception of the balance between chemical components,
- use wisdom about the growth-inhibiting relationships,
- and have intuition into reciprocal and inter-dependent functions.
The system works as a sophisticated process of elimination in a “whole systems” approach. In this way, the practitioner finds out what parts and functions are compromised and how they relate to one another. It is a jig-saw puzzle, different for every tree.
Third, the next step begins with holding that jig-saw puzzle in mind AND in heart while focusing attention and concentration.
For peoples in pre-historic times, healing was a matter of working with the energies of a person. They used a caring heart, perception with subtle senses, a healing touch or tapping on a sick body part as primary healing tools.
The Green Centrics practitioner works with the Growth Energy of the tree. He corrects or removes priority blockages or malfunctions with a clear image of what is going on for the tree and by using hands-on techniques. Like a highly trained athlete “in the zone,” he uses sharply focused concentration with that “jig-saw puzzle” of tree functionality and determines very specific target areas on the tree to touch and tap. He fixes and reconnects parts and systems; re-establishing interactive “feedback loop” functionality.
Fourth. Dynamic balance is restored to the tree as a result of the practitioner's actions and the tree's receptivity. Green Centrics restores the dynamic balance to all functionality needed for healthy growth. Dynamic balance is where everything is working together as a whole... unlike television drug commercials that warn that the medicine will help with one malady while possibly causing “side effects."
Fifth: The tree heals itself. The tree’s Life Force or Growth Energy pattern shifts from decline/shrinking into a growth/expanding pattern. When the blockages are removed and the dysfunctions are brought back into dynamic balance, the tree heals itself as a whole living system.
|
Other Complementary Practices and Paradigm BustingA “paradigm” is a generally accepted way of thinking. For instance, in 1491 the European view of the world was that it was flat and ships would fall off the edge if they ventured too far. In 1492, Columbus set sail. Soon others circumnavigated a spherical world and the old way of thinking was “busted” in favor of a newer, more accurate way of thinking.
The old paradigm in plant and tree care: standard treatments attempt to address problems using the external application of products. Applying a product means working from the “outside-in” and waiting (and hoping) that the plant or tree will fix itself. True, appropriate use of products is needed, but a tree or other plant can be too stressed to properly take up a product.
Green Centrics is the leading-edge, new thinking. It is complementary with modern, conventional tree/plant care methods and techniques in that they can be used AFTER the tree is healthy on the inside AND they can be used to KEEP the tree health from the outside.
|
Conventional Thinking
"Trees are objects and plants are decoration"
Coming from the human point of view.
Practices are generally done outside of the tree or plant.
Inside functionality of the tree/plant is taken for granted.
Wishful thinking is employed: "Hopefully, the tree will heal itself."
| Leading Edge Thinking
"Trees ar alive! Plants are alive!"
Coming from the tree's point of view
The Green Centrics system uses approaches that fix the tree's functions from the inside-out
Inside tree/plant functionality is NOT taken for granted
Internal tree functions are repaired and re-established...so wishful thinking is not necessary.
Conventional practices are complementary and are used later, after the tree is healthy, to KEEP the tree healthy.
